Sir Syed Ahmad Khan founded Aligarh Muslim University, also known as AMU, in 1875. The university began as Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College and was renamed AMU in 1920. The National Institutional Ranking Framework has ranked the university number ten in India for 2021.

According to the seventh schedule of the Indian Constitution, Aligarh Muslim University is a national institution. The university offers over 300 courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma levels in the fields of Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Medicine, Engineering, and Management through 13 departments.

Aligarh Muslim University Undergraduate Admissions:

 From 2010 to 2020, AMU held its own entrance exam to admit students to the UG programmes. Admissions to Aligarh Muslim University’s UG programmes will be based on the Central Universities Common Entrance Test beginning in the academic year 2021. (CUCET). CUCET will be a common entrance exam for all UG programmes offered by the Central Universities.
